Special Message from the Bristol Road Leadership - UPDATED May 1, 2020
Due the COVID-19 crisis and Governor Whitmer's ‘shelter in place’ Executive Order, we believe that it is necessary for us to continue to modify our church-life schedule until further notice. Therefore, we have made the decision to announce the cancellation of the following activities/events:
At this point we have told our ministry staff and administrative staff that they can work remotely from home to help comply with the Executive Order. They will periodically stop by the building to do some small things on a rotating basis, however, there will be no set times for this to happen. Should you need any assistance or need to get something from the building, please contact the Ministers or Elders by cell phone to arrange a time to come by the building. Communion supply information will come later in the week. As we have already stated, our closings will parallel that of government announcements and CDC recommendations. Nonetheless, trusting in the goodness of God, we realize that ministry will still happen and the work of God's kingdom marches on!
The church, we continue to learn, is not the building. Although we’re (temporarily) not gathering, the work of our church continues together. We can still do benevolence, mission, pastoral, and other vital work of the Lord by continuing our faithful giving. If you’d like to give by mail, please send your check to: Bristol Road church of Christ, 1315 W. Bristol Road, Flint, MI 48507 (attention: Wendy). Alternatively, if you use online giving, you may make your contribution through that means. You may also drop off your donation when picking up communion supplies. If you give cash, please follow 1 Corinthians 16:2 and set those funds aside for one lump sum giving when we once again come together as God’s people.
You can give online by clicking here: Online Giving You can use this to set up one-time, weekly, bi-monthly, or monthly gifts. Or to make up for the last few weeks of missed giving. This is a perfect time for generosity.
Let’s be encouraged, that the Lord’s faithfulness endures forever! Psalm 117 states, “Praise the Lord, all you nations; extol him, all you peoples. For great is his love toward us, and the faithfulness of the Lord endures forever. Praise the Lord.!” God is in control. And because He loves us, His steadfast love and faithfulness is pledged to us. Let us ensure we are worshiping Him in all we do during this time of distress. Let us be in prayer as a community of believers tonight...
O Great Love, thank you for living and loving in us and through us. May all that we do flow from our deep connection with you and all beings. Help us become a community that vulnerably shares each other’s burdens and the weight of glory. Listen to our hearts’ longings for the healing of our world. Knowing you are hearing us better than we are speaking, we offer these prayers in all the holy names of God, Amen.
Your Leadership Team
The Bristol Road Church is dedicated to the mission of encouraging individuals in their next step with Jesus Christ. Whether you are skeptical of spirituality, interested in learning more about God, or have been a Christ-follower for many years, we believe that God calls us to continually take next steps in a growing relationship with Him!
We are not perfect.
We don’t have all the answers.
We fall short.
But that is the Good News – that even in our weakness, our misunderstandings, and our imperfections God calls us His children and calls us to grow in Him. We believe an important part of this journey in taking next steps in Jesus Christ is to commit oneself to a shared discipleship with a body of believers in a local church. We hope to be that church body for you and your family!
This year we are focusing on Mark 16:15 - "Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation"
